THE COMMUNITY PROGRAM “INNOVATION FUN DAY 3.0” HAS CREATED INNOVATION VALUES FOR STUDENTS A FOR STUDENTS

SERDANG, 19 June - Students of Credited Curriculum Courses (KKB), Innovation and Invention (QKI 2101) have organized the program "Innovation Fun Day 3.0" from 1 until 19 June 2021 by using the online platforms via Zoom meeting and FBLive.

The Innovation Fun Day 3.0 program is a continuation of the Innovation Fun Day 1.0 and 2.0 which is a community program for students of Innovation and Invention (QKI2101) of each semester. For the first time, the Innovation Fun Day 3.0 program featured three subprograms which are the D.I.Y Poster Innovation Poster competition, Virtual Treasure Hunt, and Innovation Talk which were conducted virtually.

The program is organised with the aim of developing critical thinking abilities and problem solving, nurturing the values ​​of innovation and creativity and introducing elements of innovation to the general public of the community, especially to Higher Institutional Learning (IHL)  students and school students. In addition, the program can directly form lifelong skills to the students of this course as well as the participants; where students still can carry out activities in accordance with the new norms of the COVID-19 pandemic by using a variety of current technologies.

Participations were from students from various IHL within Malaysia and schools.  All these programs are the result of a strategic collaboration between UPM and The Institution Of Engineers Malaysia-UMP Student Section, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (IEM-UMPSS) to run the Virtual Treasure Hunt program a success, two SRKs namely SK IPG Kampus Dato Razali Ismail and SRK Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Spaoh for the success of the DIY Innovation Poster Competition and Malaysian Technology Development Corporation MTDC for the Innovation Talk program and as the main sponsor for the whole programs . The success of the program is the result of good cooperation and team spirit between partners, program committee members and all students of this course with the guidance of Mrs. Hafliza, our facilitator who taught us to manage the program carefully and successfully.

“Such a program will definitely benefit the youth, especially UPM students in exposing them to the importance of innovation and how innovation can make life easier in various aspects. This is a clear proof of the efforts of students who take innovation and design courses are very committed in learning, practicing and deepening the essence of this course regardless of race, culture and background," said Mohd Baihaqi, a Program Director.

Also held, a closing ceremony officiated by Bukryman Sabri, Coordinator of Co-Curriculum and Development Centre, UPM and also attended both from Co-Curriculum and Development Centre, UPM were Mohd Imran Nul Hakim Derasip , Special Facilitator and Hafliza Hussin, Facilitator for Innovation and Invention Course students who also attended the closing ceremony of the Innovation Fun Day 3.0 program.
