Petaling Jaya, December 11, 2024 – The Cooperative Management Certification Program organized by the Center for Co-Curricular and Student Development (PKPP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in collaboration with the Malaysian Cooperative Institute (IKMa), successfully took place from December 7 to 11, 2024. This program aims to produce graduates skilled in cooperative management, foster an entrepreneurial spirit, and strengthen cooperation among students and the community.

A total of 51 final-year degree students from UPM participated in this program, which included various modules such as cooperative management, strategic planning, financial management, and marketing. Participants were also given the opportunity to attend practical sessions, allowing them to apply theory in real-life situations. Students who successfully complete this program will be offered Industrial Training at cooperatives throughout Malaysia, thereby opening up broader career opportunities.

The closing ceremony of the program was held on December 10, 2024, at the Dato' Abdul Majid Auditorium, IKMa. It was officiated by two distinguished guests, Prof. Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Mursyid Arshad, Director of PKPP UPM, and Ms. Arfizawati bt Abdul Hadi, Director of the Higher Education Center, IKMa. Both of them also presented certificates to the participants who successfully completed this program. Also present was Mr. Fahmi Azar Mistar, Deputy Director of PKPP UPM.

In his speech, Prof. Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Mursyid Arshad emphasized the importance of knowledge and skills in the field of cooperative management to ensure the development of more competitive cooperatives and to benefit the national economy. Ms. Arfizawati bt Abdul Hadi emphasized that the cooperative sector plays an important role in economic development, encouraging more youth to actively engage in this field.

The close cooperation between PKPP UPM and IKMa reflects the commitment of both institutions to empower cooperative education in Malaysia. The success of this program can be seen through the positive feedback from participants who appreciated the knowledge and practical experience gained throughout the program.

PKPP UPM and IKMa hope that the youth participating in this program can become active agents of change, contributing to the development of the cooperative sector and the country's economy. With this initiative, they are optimistic that more viable and competitive cooperatives will emerge, providing a positive impact on society and the country as a whole.
