Serdang, 27 June 2026 – More than 200 students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) participated in the Lestari Jiwa Putra @ Cakna Kampus 2026 Programme, organised by the Centre for Co-curriculum and Student Development (PKPP) this morning.
The programme was organised as the signature Jiwa Putra initiative in conjunction with UPM's Bulan Sinergi Putra 2026 celebration, which is being held throughout June and involves various responsibility centres across the university.
Earlier, UPM outlined five key focus areas as the university's True North, which also serve as the theme of the synergy programme: the Food Security Blueprint, the Planetary Health Blueprint, Putra Global, Jiwa Putra, and Exceptional Service and Alumni Empowerment.
Director of PKPP, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Mursyid Arshad, said the programme reflects students' awareness and concern for developments within the university environment while serving as a platform to nurture graduates who are prepared to lead communities and contribute meaningfully to society.

"The Jiwa Putra programme is also implemented in collaboration with the community as a form of students' contribution to society. This approach provides students with the opportunity to develop holistically, in line with the aspirations outlined in the Malaysia Higher Education Blueprint," he said in his speech.
The programme featured aerobics and plogging—an activity that combines jogging with litter collection—to instil a sense of responsibility for campus sustainability among participants.
Programme participant Hafiy Khutubu Rubbani, from the QKB 2102 Kompang Music class, said the Lestari Jiwa Putra Programme successfully fostered the spirit of volunteerism and encouraged students to take responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness and environmental sustainability of the Serdang campus.
"This programme provides students with the opportunity to contribute to the campus through community clean-up activities in areas that require attention, while fostering teamwork and a strong sense of responsibility," he said.
