PERKASA PUTRA WEEK 2025: CREDIT CO-CURRICULAR SLOT

UPM, 7 October 2025 – The Co-Curriculum and Student Development Centre (PKPP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has successfully implemented the Credit Co-Curriculum Course Slot in conjunction with Perkasa Putra Week (MPP) 2025, held at the Great Hall of the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural and Arts Centre (PKKSSAAS), UPM.

The slot, which was held for the first time during this orientation week, aims to provide initial exposure to new students on the implementation of the Credit Co-Curriculum Course (KKB) and the role of the PKPP in shaping students who are balanced in terms of academics, personality and soft skills.

 

The program began with an enthusiastic performance from the Credit Co-Curriculum course students who performed kompang, silat and silambam, among the courses offered under the UPM PKPP. The performance not only showcased the uniqueness of the Malay and various racial cultural heritage, but also reflected the spirit of unity and high disciplinary values ​​that are instilled in each co-curricular course.

The ceremony then continued with an official introduction session by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Mursyid Arshad, Director of the UPM Student Development Center, who detailed the center's functions and responsibilities in planning and implementing student development courses and activities at the university level. He emphasized that UPM students not only need to excel in academics, but also need to have soft skills, leadership and high team spirit in order to be able to compete at the global level.

 

Next, Ts. Dr. Rozzamri Ashari, Deputy Director of Credited Co-Curriculum at the UPM Student Development Center, also provided an explanation on the structure of the implementation of co-curricular courses, including assessment components, course categories and the benefits of student involvement in activities that contribute to their personality and professionalism development.

The slot was also highlighted by a sharing by Mr. Dahlan Ismail Abu Bakar, Deputy Director of Student Development at the UPM Student Development Center, who explained the various student development initiatives and programs under the control of the Student Development Center. He also emphasized that activities such as leadership, volunteering, entrepreneurship and innovation play an important role in strengthening the potential and identity of students as Putra Leaders of Tomorrow.

 

Through the implementation of this slot, new students can more clearly understand the importance of co-curricular courses in their journey as UPM students. This program also serves as an initial platform to create awareness that active participation in courses and student development activities is not just fulfilling credit requirements, but is a training ground to build superior character, values ​​and self-competence.

Overall, the Credit Co-Curricular Slot in conjunction with Minggu Perkasa Putra 2025 successfully achieved its objectives in instilling a spirit of togetherness, building identity and empowering the potential of new students. This initiative is in line with the aspirations of Universiti Putra Malaysia to produce knowledgeable, competitive, morally upright and leadership-minded graduates, thus upholding the university's motto — "Berilmu Berbakti."
