POST-FLOOD AID MISSION SERIES 4/2025

Pulau Pangkor - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through the Skuad Jiwa Putra has carried out the Post-Flood Aid Mission Series 4/2025 from April 5 to 6, 2025, at Kampung Masjid, Pulau Pangkor, Perak. This mission was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) through the Ihsan Madani Squad initiative. A total of 26 volunteers consisting of UPM students and staff were involved in this mission, focusing on post-flood cleaning efforts in the affected community areas.

The main activities of the mission included cleaning residents' homes, disposing of damaged goods, and cleaning public areas such as schools and mosques. The primary goal was to ensure the environment was clean and safe for living. In addition, the volunteers also assisted local residents who were affected by the major flood that hit the area.

Also present in this mission was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) of UPM, YBhg. Prof. Arifin Abdu, who provided moral support to the volunteers and surveyed the conditions of the affected community, showing concern for the hardships faced by the residents of Kampung Masjid.

This mission was a result of close collaboration between KPT, the Malaysian Universities Volunteer Council (MASKUM), the Student Affairs Division (BHEP) of UPM, the UPM Student Representative Council (MPP), and the Centre for Co-curricular Activities and Student Development (PKPP) of UPM. The initiative not only had a positive impact on the local community but also fostered the values of empathy and volunteerism among UPM students, in line with the university's aspirations to produce graduates with a sense of community.

On the second day of the mission, April 6, 2025, the volunteers continued to demonstrate resilience and high spirits despite feeling fatigued after a full day of work. They continued with thorough cleaning efforts in the residents' homes and public areas that were still covered in mud and flood debris. The mission also received moral support from the Minister of Higher Education, YB Dato' Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir, who also visited the area to motivate the volunteers and connect with the affected residents, giving a clear picture of the urgent need for aid in the impacted community.
