UPM STUDENT VOLUNTEER FOUNDATION (YSS) CANDIDACY INTERVIEW 2026 CONDUCTED SUCCESSFULLY

Serdang, 11 January 2026 – The Student Volunteer Foundation (Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa, YSS) Candidacy Interview at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) for the year 2026 was successfully conducted over two days from 10 to 11 January 2026. The programme took place at the Centre for Co-curricular and Student Development (PKPP), UPM and received an encouraging response from students.

This interview session represents a crucial phase in the selection process of potential student volunteers to participate in the YSS Student Volunteer Mission 2026. The YSS programme is an initiative aimed at nurturing students with strong volunteerism values, leadership qualities, and a high sense of social responsibility towards community development.

A total of 95 UPM students from various faculties participated in the interview sessions. The candidates demonstrated strong commitment and enthusiasm for volunteer work, reflecting the willingness of UPM students to actively engage in community service and outreach initiatives.

Throughout the interview process, candidates underwent several assessment stages, including question-and-answer sessions with the interview panels, evaluation of communication skills, leadership potential, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. These assessments were conducted to ensure that selected candidates are physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared to face the challenges throughout the volunteer mission.

Notably, the interview sessions were conducted by 13 YSS UPM alumni who have previously participated in YSS missions. Their involvement as interview panel members enhanced the credibility of the selection process and added value through the sharing of real-life field experiences, enabling a more holistic and practical evaluation of the candidates.

The YSS Student Volunteer Mission 2026 is expected to involve a wide range of high-impact activities focusing on community development, social welfare, education, healthcare, and social empowerment, both locally and internationally. Therefore, the selection of qualified, disciplined, competitive, and genuinely passionate volunteers is essential to ensure the successful implementation of the mission.

The organising committee hopes that this interview session will produce a group of high-quality, dedicated, and competent UPM student volunteers who will serve as ambassadors of the university in delivering meaningful contributions to the targeted communities. Student participation in this programme is also aligned with UPM’s aspiration to produce holistic graduates who are balanced in academic excellence, character development, and social responsibility.

Congratulations and well done to all candidates who participated in the UPM Student Volunteer Foundation (YSS) Candidacy Interview 2026. Best wishes and good luck in your future endeavours, and may you be selected to carry the responsibility as YSS Student Volunteers for 2026.
